How it works

From a stuck question to an answer you understand.

Spark AI does one thing: it helps with the question you are stuck on. Here is every step, including the ones where it hands you to a person.

  1. Send the question

Photograph the page, or type the question out. A photo is shown back to you before it is sent, with one question: can you read it clearly? If you cannot, Spark AI probably cannot either, so you can retake it.

Each question you send uses one of your five free AI doubts for the day. The count starts again at midnight, India time. Tapping send twice by accident still counts once.

  2. Spark AI writes out the working

An answer has three parts: the approach (the idea the question turns on), the working step by step, and the final answer. Maths is written with real superscripts and fractions that wrap on a phone screen.

Before you see it, the server checks what it can. It recomputes lines of working that are pure arithmetic, substitutes the roots it found back into the equation, compares the last step with the answer, and counts the atoms on both sides of a final chemical equation. If a check finds a mistake, Spark AI gets one chance to correct it. If it still fails, the answer is not shown and the doubt is given back to you.

Sometimes an answer comes with a short note: how Spark AI read a question that could mean two things, or that the topic may go beyond what your exam usually asks. If a detail is missing, it asks for it instead of guessing, and that does not use a doubt.

  3. You say whether it landed

Every answer ends with one question: did this clear your doubt? If yes, the doubt is marked clear and stays under My doubts for whenever you need it. If not, it stays open and you are offered an expert.

  4. An expert takes over

The expert sees your question and Spark AI's answer, so you do not have to explain it again. You talk in the app by text or voice note, as much as you need. Video is limited: two minutes of call time a day, shared across all your calls. During a call the expert can draw on a shared whiteboard, and share their screen from a laptop.

Video calls are recorded so that a complaint can be looked into, and you are told before you join. The recording has the expert's camera and screen and both voices. Your camera is never recorded.

Experts are not online all the time. Before you ask, the app shows whether one is online, and the hours experts are scheduled for, when those have been set. If nobody is online, you can ask for a callback and someone at Spark AI will call you on your registered number.

You can also go to an expert straight from the home screen without asking the AI first: choose a subject, and add your question or leave it blank for general guidance. Talking to an expert never uses your AI doubts.

  5. Afterwards

The session stays under your doubt: who you spoke to, how long it ran, and a short summary of the typed conversation, written by the AI and labelled that way. You are asked once whether the session cleared your doubt, and you can rate it.

What Spark AI will not do

It answers study questions. Anything else gets one friendly reply pointing you back to your subjects, and your next study question works straight away. Abusive messages are the exception: the first gets a warning, and a second within 30 days pauses free AI doubts for seven days. Experts stay available while they are paused.

It does not follow a board's chapter list or a textbook, so it will not tell you which chapter or exercise a question comes from.

Getting in

Sign in with your Indian mobile number and the one-time code we send you, then choose your class and exam. Spark AI is in early access for a limited group of approved students. If your number has not been approved yet, you will see the waitlist screen when you finish setting up, and signing in with the same number takes you straight in once it is. Parents can link to a child's account only with the child's yes, and see usage, never questions or answers.
